YOUR PRIVATE NOTEBOOK
Privacy Policy
Your recordings, your choices. Here is how sumrze handles information.
Updated 23 September 2026
About this policy
This policy describes the current sumrze mobile app, browser app, and product website. The mobile app processes recordings on your device. No sumrze account or cloud transcription service is required. sumrze is operated by Karan Sawhney as an individual, not a registered company. Contact: sumrze.support@gmail.com.
Information on your device
sumrze stores the name you enter, settings, recordings and imported audio, transcripts, summaries, action items, bookmarks, speaker labels, detected languages, and recent searches to provide your notebook and search features. Spoken questions use the microphone for local transcription. Speaker labels distinguish voices within a recording; they are not verified identities.
Local processing and security
Transcription, summarization, search, and speaker analysis run locally with installed models. sumrze does not upload your recordings, transcript text, summaries, or questions to a cloud AI service or use them to train a hosted model. Saved mobile notes and retained audio are encrypted by the app. Temporary audio may exist while recording, processing, playing, or exporting, protected by the operating system’s app storage. App lock uses the device’s authentication system; sumrze does not receive your biometric templates. No storage method offers absolute security.
Downloads and SDK diagnostics
AI model downloads connect to third-party hosts such as Hugging Face and their delivery services. These hosts receive normal connection information, including IP address and the requested model; model downloads do not require uploading your recordings. Android passage-language identification uses Google ML Kit. Google documents collection of device and app information, per-installation identifiers, performance and error metrics, API configuration, input/output sizes, and detected language codes for diagnostics and usage analytics. This is separate from local processing of transcript text. The current app has no advertising SDK or sumrze-operated analytics service.
Permissions and notifications
Microphone access enables recordings and spoken questions. Selected-file access enables audio/model imports and exports. Notification permission enables completion alerts and Android recording controls; background services support recording and local processing. You can manage permissions in your device settings. Completion notifications use generic text rather than your note contents. The recording indicator may appear on your lock screen.
Sharing and external services
Audio or text leaves the app when you choose to export or share it, including through email or WhatsApp. Review the recipient and contents before sharing. The receiving app, recipient, operating system, and app store have their own privacy practices. Deleting a note in sumrze does not delete exported files, messages, or copies held by others.
Retention, deletion, and your choices
Notes stay locally until you delete them or clear the app’s storage. The original-audio preference offers Keep, Never, or Ask each time; audio is retained if transcription fails, and removing audio does not remove the transcript or summary. Manage storage lets you remove recordings and downloaded models. You can edit your name and notes, export supported content, and revoke permissions. Uninstalling or clearing local storage can permanently remove notes; sumrze has no cloud copy to restore. Independent exports and device-level backups, if any, must be managed separately.
Website and browser app
The current product website has no advertising trackers, analytics scripts, account forms, or tracking cookies. A web server or hosting provider can receive IP addresses, request paths, browser information, and access logs when serving pages. The browser app stores notes and preferences in browser storage; it does not provide the mobile app’s encryption or app lock. Clearing site data removes that local content. External links are subject to their destination’s policies.
Children, rights, and changes
sumrze is not designed for children. Where consent or a minimum age is required, use must comply with applicable law. Depending on your location, privacy rights may include access, correction, deletion, objection, or a complaint to a regulator. Local content can be managed in the app; sumrze does not hold a cloud copy of it. Future changes to data practices will be described in an updated policy and, where required, a separate notice or consent request.
